Networking & Wi-Fi
Ruijie/Reyee or UniFi for a new business network?
When Reyee or UniFi may suit a new business network in Albania: compare cloud management, exact equipment, running costs and local support.
If you are building a new business network, Ruijie/Reyee and Ubiquiti UniFi can both belong on the shortlist. The useful question is which combination of equipment, management and support fits your site. A free cloud label is a reason to look closer, but it does not settle the whole decision.
For a small office, restaurant or hotel, we would start with the building, busy areas, connected systems and the person who will manage them. Then compare complete proposals. Buying access points first and working out the rest later can leave you paying for changes that a short planning exercise would have caught.
What “free cloud management” actually means
Ruijie advertises lifetime-free cloud management for basic features on supported cloud-managed networking devices. Its terms reserve charges for advanced features and changes to service scope. Confirm that the exact products and functions in your quotation are covered by the current Ruijie Cloud offer. This is a useful benefit, rather than a promise that every Ruijie service will always be free.
UniFi also offers license-free Site Manager access. Where the management application runs is a separate choice: a compatible UniFi console, your own host or an optional hosting service. UniFi OS Server is license-free, while Official UniFi Hosting is an optional paid service. It would be misleading to compare the two brands as “free management versus a compulsory subscription.”
When we would shortlist Reyee
For a new small or medium business installation, Reyee is worth considering when the supported range meets the technical brief and you want hosted basic management without maintaining a separate computer for the management application. That can simplify the support arrangement, especially when several sites need an agreed remote administration process.
We would still check the required routing, wireless, switching and network access controls against the proposed models. “Cloud managed” is not a substitute for confirming the features you need. Agree account ownership, installer permissions and what can be managed locally if remote access is unavailable.
When UniFi may fit better
UniFi deserves a close look when you already have suitable equipment, your administrator knows the platform, or a compatible local console fits the way you want to operate. A new project may also favour UniFi because the selected models and application requirements make sense together. Replacing a working installation simply to change the dashboard needs a clear benefit.
If a proposed Cloud Gateway already hosts the required Network application, avoid budgeting for another controller without a reason. If you choose self-hosting, include responsibility for the host, updates and backups. Ubiquiti explains these deployment differences in its self-hosting documentation. Local and remote administration should be demonstrated using the arrangement actually supplied.
Compare the installation, not just the access point
| Decision | What to ask for |
|---|---|
| Coverage and capacity | A placement plan and agreed checks for busy areas, rooms and client devices. |
| Equipment | Full model codes, port speeds, power requirements, mounting and accessories. |
| Management | Where the application runs, included functions, any selected fees and account ownership. |
| Support | Update responsibility, backups, replacement arrangements and the handover documents. |
| Expansion | Available ports, power and cable routes for the next stage of the building. |
Keep suffixes in the model reference. Similar names can describe different products. Ruijie’s RG-RAP2260(G) datasheet, for example, is the document to check for that exact model. An access point’s advertised radio rate is also not a promise of the Internet speed every phone will receive.
Buying and maintaining the system in Albania
Ask for confirmed models, delivery expectations and the replacement route for your actual order. If the preferred device is unavailable, approve a substitute against the requirements before it arrives on site. This matters whether you choose one network brand or several.
A project can reasonably use one network platform alongside another manufacturer’s cameras, phones or storage. That does not make every feature appear in one management screen. Agree the interfaces and support boundaries using our mixed-brand planning guide, then compare the complete installation budget.
Our recommendation: shortlist Reyee when supported hosted basic management and the selected equipment simplify a new installation. Shortlist UniFi when its deployment options, equipment and your operating arrangements fit better. Ask both proposals to prove the same requirements before choosing. Neither logo can replace that work.
